Is it time for school to start yet?

Um...yeah, as much as I enjoy my kids being home, it's somewhat out of control around our house. The girls have discovered the word BORED and like to use it frequently!"We are bored...there's nothing to do...let's go somewhere" So I have GOT to get some kinda game plan, schedule, something, to survive this summer! I really don't want them in front of the TV, which is what we have been doing these first 3 weeks. So any idea's on how to keep busy, have fun, etc... I am going to go buy them some workbooks so that they don't forget all of the stuff they learned last year and are ready for next year, that's all I got so far. What is everyone else doing with there kids this summer?
Here are some picture's Joey and the girls took of them being "bored"

There are reading programs for every age group throughout the summer - they earn points and get prizes - even if you have to read to them - they get awards...
Summer program at movie theaters that are really cheap
Omni Theater has "Dolphins" and was filmed in the Bahamas
Swimming at City Pools/Parks
Get them signed up for teeball or dance classes or something like that or swimming lessons
At Michaels you can buy little natural wood jewelry boxes and ornaments and figurines and buy some wood paint and let them paint - they are really cheap
Let them make a movie on your video camera - first they write the movie, what happens etc and who plays what part - get the costumes, and then direct the movie - they will think it would be funny to watch later.
Go to a Museum
Get a croquet set and let them play outside (I think it's fun! - it's been forever though)
Let them cook a new meal every week and they get to take turns picking out what the meal will be and they serve it and do it all (with your help of course) - plus they have cooking classes at Young Chefs Academy in Colleyville and at Central Market
Come play with their cousins
i have way more ideas if you want more :)

Their cousins Trinity & Alyssa want to come "keep them busy." :)
Trinity loves to "fix" my hair. I let her get the water spray bottle and clips and ponies and she loves that and it feels good too. We go on wild flower hunts and then look them up in the wild flower book. Same with rocks. Well... I guess there is a lot of things we do in the country that is not really city-friendly... hmmmm...
OH- get old magazines and let them make a themed collage... like.. food they like to eat, or fun things to do. What about LMRA? it's cheap and they have parks and rides and a huge pool.

I am totally going to do the reading thing!
Swimming lessons will wear them out and keep you running because once your out, you'll run your errands "real quick"! Yeah right!
Kids just love crafts, but I like giving them chalk, so I don't have to do anything with the mess! Also, they like to "build" drums and buildings with the recycleables!
The movie thing IS a great idea! PS I liked yours for Jess!
Target has croquet sets for $2.50 and I'm sure Jenn has a coupon!
Caleb made brownies with me, but it has now taken some of the nostalgia out of it for him. He said, "That's it! You just mix in things and pour it in?" Crap, he might not think I'm so great every time I make brownies, now! I'll have to make it look harder next time!!
